Brienne lady of the guard
As a youth I watched my father come home late at night, body worn from wearing plate armor all day. A man raised in the royal way, noble blood flowing through his veins, although we lived far from our own home he made sure every day when he came home we knew we belonged. All my youthful years I spent, worshiping Bahamut, dreading the day would come when I would be given to another royal family and taken away from the place I have called home for years, the dragon lands. My father’s nights became later and later until eventually he told us he had to travel with an emissary to the lands where we were from as a guard. Seeing as my father was a man of rather large stature, there was never a need to worry about him coming home till one day we received a knock on the door. It was a royal messenger, sent to retrieve my mother and myself. We arrived at the lord dragon’s court and as we arrived the reigning lord told explained to us that my father’s caravan he was escorting had been ambushed, he had since passed.
I broke down on the inside, there was nothing that I could do to understand why Bahamut had failed me. I sat and began to pray, and as I sat and prayed, a voice answered but I was alone, “come child, learn to carry sword and shield.” "Why would I want to carry sword and shield? I replied “This is what got my father killed and he was a much better person than myself.” “Do not doubt me.” the voice called “You will find your calling and I will contact you later on in life as long as you worship the faith.”
Fast forward some time, my mother who slowly began to lose her sanity over the years passed. I decided then that I needed to do something with my life, so I gave myself to Bahamut. I went to the temple and began to worship and work in the service of bahamut in the Dragon lands. The priest that served there, all dragon born treated me well and taught me all the things that I would need to know to lead my own congregation one day, even if not here. One day I hear a familiar voice, “It is time, I have been listening to your prayers and watching you and you have never lost faith.” “Leave these lands, travel and spread the joy of all that is kind and faithful.” The voice said. “How will I know when I have completed my task?” I said, “Can I not just stay with the dragons and worship in peace?” The voice replied “You will know when your time has come to an end for travel, go forth you shall meet new people and spread the word, and remember stay away from the darkness that once filled your soul.”
After the voice and I finished our conversation, I went back to tell the high priest what had happened, and the high priest looked at me in sheer disbelief and said “he speaks to you?” “Bahamut has spoken to you?” I replied “yes and he told me to set forth and meet new people and do not let the darkness consume me.” Without a second thought the priest left and came back with a set of armor that looked vaguely familiar. “This was your fathers.” The priest said “If bahamut spoke to you then he has plans for you, take this and do what the gods say.”
So I look back and the priest and he runs up to me with enough rations for a three day journey and tells me farewell and I begin my travels from the dragon lands to the lands where the humans stay. As I travel I occasionally stop and see temples but none worship my god, so I talk to people as I travel and I can talk a few of them into converting. We speak and Bahamut does not talk to me at all as I am travelling so I assume I am doing his bidding well. One night I was traveling late and it began to rain so I ducked into a tavern and…..
